LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Thank you, friends for visiting the website of the Town of Sheldon Historical Society, a volunteer group dedicated to the preservation of local history and sustaining the School House Museum for generations to come.

This group was founded in 1927, but had “run out of steam” by mid-century. Fortunately, a group of dedicated citizens came together in the mid-1970’s to save the Sheldon School #10 from demolition, and subsequently reorganize the historical society. Known today as the School House Museum, the building is the pride of Sheldon and the heart of activity for the Historical Society.

We’ve enjoyed a tremendous up-tick in memberships and volunteers this year which has allowed us to achieve several milestone goals. Our 19th Annual Town-Wide Yard Sale was well attended again this year. We’ve begun to accept content submissions for our website at www.sheldonhistoricalsociety.org. Also, our project team is planning an upgrade to our museum building. The children’s reading program has been a huge success again this summer. Won’t you join the Historical Society today and be part of something great? Membership will entitle you to a Quarterly Newsletter and access to our web portal.

Kindest regards,
Susan Szucs, President
Sheldon Historical Society
